Wartime in the Cotswolds

A great weekend with tremendous support from everyone at the railway,  but don't let me say any more - have a look at Tripadvisor

  1. It is reported that the Board intends to build a Station Canopy at Broadway out of BOX GIRDERS instead of the lattice trusses such as used at Toddington that give that Station an authentic GWR feel as was originally intended.

You justify this on the grounds that visitors do not "look up".

When visiting Corfe Castle station all the visitors "look up" and admire the beautifully accurate rebuild of the Corfe Castle Signal Box.

When visiting Kidderminster station all the visitors "look up" and admire the reproduced period detail of the roof and canopy

When visiting Ropley station all the visitors "look up" and marvel at the new waiting room with its correct period trusses and colour scheme.

When visiting Horsted Keynes all the visitors "look up" and marvel at the completely new period platform buildings and zince canopy on the reconstructed Plarfom 1 and 2.

When visiting Broadway Station will all the visitors have to look down because there is nothing to see here other than a sight that resembles the inside of their prefabricated garages.

On behalf of all who support GWSR and BAG I must ask you to reconsider this.

  2. Further to the above and ahead of Broadway Area Group's AGM I will commit to contribute 250 gbp to a fund for the Station if the Board will commit to a proper GWR design trussed roof and a non bricked in roof void.
